Authentic: How to Make a Living by Being YourselfDon't bother to read this book if you are at peace with your world and happy in your work. Don't read it if you are scared of heights or unprepared to face some of your deepest fears. If you have a heart, Neil's book will touch it. If you have a conscience, be prepared to feel a dull ache and a vague unease as Neil gets inside your mind - and your soul. As if he knows you. Unless, of course, you are already fully evolved. And already your own real person. Whether you are waiting at the foothills of Mount Truth - or stuck on the Plains of Mount Purpose, Neil beckons you, and offers you a route onwards and upwards. If you are seeking knowledge or deep intellectual stimulation, then I'd 'pass' on this book for now, though it might in fact help you towards that goal. If you are content with a state of being slightly dishonest with yourself and others, or you cannot admit that you are, then again I'd 'pass'. If you already enjoy feeling fully alive, then don't read it, write the sequel? This is a book for our time if ever there was one. We can be happy - and part of the big solution - if we listen to our hearts. The way we did when we were very young. Author - Neil CroftsCo-active CoachingDiscusses the important qualities of a co-active coach: listening, intuition, curiosity, action/learning, and self-management.
Author - Laura Whitworth, Henry Kimsey-House and Phil SandahlCoaching for PerformanceThis edition includes additional chapters on incorporating meaning and purpose into work, into goal-setting, and a spiritual approach to coaching, together with a final section on "Coaching the Organizations' Culture". Adopted by many of the world's major corporations, this work also argues for using questions, rather than instructions and commands, and following the GROW sequence - Goals, Reality, Options, Will - to generate prompt action and peak performance. It explores the dynamics of team development and it positions coaching as the essential team leadership skill. Author - John WhitmoreConfident ConversationThe author tells the reader what to say to anyone in almost any situation. Chapters cover topics such as greetings and meetings, being a good conversationalist, positive criticism, business situations, social gatherings, difficult or sensitive subjects, right words for special people or special encounters, relationships, giving opinions and how to be a good listener.Author - Dr. Lillian GlassFinding Your Own North StarFinding your own North Star is a truly joyful book to read, with personal anecdotes, lots of case studies and exercises. The author deals first with rediscovering your "essential" self, this is about becoming aware of your emotions, working through fear, grief anger to find joy (a simplified change curve) and then about reintegrating with your "social" self (developed in response to pressures from outside).
Some sections do border on therapy, but the author makes it clear when seeking counselling would be advisable.
The second half of the book is based on a very simple but effective model for responding to any major changes in life and how to work through each stage.
The Change Cycle starts with a 'catalytic event', taking the client through 4 squares. The first is entitled 'Death & Rebirth', the second 'Dreaming & Scheming', the third 'The Hero's Saga' and fourth 'The Promised Land'.
The author shows us that any change is made up of small moves and big moves and that we are continually working our way around this cycle because, try as we might, we cannot stop change. Author - Martha BeckFrom Socrates to Sartre: The Philosophic QuestEvery staff member or client lives within one of these discourses discussed in this clear, precise survey of the Western philosophical tradition.Author - T.
